ONE WIN AWAY

Manchester United are just a win away from qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions league. This could be achieved as early as in the match against Bayern Leverkusen on Wednesday. The pair of Robin van Persie and Nemanja Vidic were absent for the trip to Cardiff during the weekend.

United could only manage a 2-2 draw against the Welsh team. Manager David Moyes has revealed that he is hopeful of having the pair back into the squad for the encounter against Bayer Leverkusen. This will be a tough match given that the German team are undefeated in 13 matches at home.

They are second in the Bundesliga table just a couple of points behind Bayern Munich, who have been regarded as one of the best teams in the world. Vidic suffered from a concussion during the 1-0 win over Arsenal, while van Persie has been suffering from a groin injury. Vidic did not suffer major issues, but he was left out of the Cardiff match as a precaution. United’s defence has not been the same without the Serbian and a recall could be on the cards for this crunch match. The guys Unibet think that a draw is the most likely outcome.

“Robin’s groin is the problem at the moment, his toes [which had previously troubled him] are much better. We are hoping to get both Nemanja and Robin back as soon as we can. I hope they’ll be in contention for Wednesday but I couldn’t give you a definitive answer. Kagawa got injured playing for Japan. It’s an injury to his foot, there’s some bruising there, but it’s not too bad,” Moyes said.

A number of players are suffering from injuries with the likes of Carrick ruled out until January. It is learnt that Phil Jones and Shinji Kagawa are the latest additions to the injury table, but Jones may return for the Leverkusen match according to Moyes.
