Nemanja Vidic Left Impressed by This Manchester United Player

Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic says that he has been left impressed by striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford.

The Swedish striker arrived on a free transfer from PSG in the summer. Considering that he was 35 years old, Ibrahimovic was largely expected to play the role of a super sub with more focus on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. However, it has not been the case with Ibrahimovic managing to dominate proceedings from the start of the campaign. He has not tailed off even as the end of the season approaches.

Vidic says that he never expected such brilliant performances from a player approaching the end of his career. Ibrahimovic has scored 28 goals in all competitions this season. His goals have been a major reason behind the club being able to procure only nine goals from the trio of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Wayne Rooney.

United have been impressed by Ibrahimovic and they are planning to keep the player beyond the end of his current contract. His contract runs out in the summer, but it is understood that the player has a two-year contract offer on the table. Ibrahimovic is yet to sign this deal. Vidic is also aware that the club has finally signed his replacement in the form of Eric Bailly.

“I always knew that he was a top player. I played a few times against him – he has played at different clubs, won many trophies and scored goals everywhere so it was not a surprise to me that he is scoring goals. But to be 35 years of age and fit to play every match… English football is different but he adapted fast and in general he has been consistent the whole season so I am really impressed by him especially the mentality that he still has and the hunger to play and score goals,” said Vidic.
